Investing in Sustainable Leadership: Erik Hamilton Earns Parksmart Advisor Certification

Congratulations to Erik Hamilton, General Manager at the Boise Airport, for his Parksmart Advisor Certification!

Parksmart, offered through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) in partnership with the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI), is the only rating system in the world dedicated to smarter, more sustainable parking facilities. The training equips advisors to evaluate facilities against the Parksmart Standard, guide clients through the certification process, and identify opportunities for programmatic, technological, and structural improvements.

He completed the training this summer, officially earning his Parksmart Advisor certification in early August — joining an elite group of fewer than 400 advisors worldwide. The program, which includes continuing education hours through IPMI, earned him a credential from GBCI and expanded his ability to support clients in achieving more efficient, environmentally responsible operations.

For Erik, the motivation went beyond professional development. He was drawn to Parksmart’s holistic approach — one that considers not only sustainable technologies but also how garages operate day-to-day, how they serve customers, and how they fit into the surrounding community. That broader view of sustainability resonated deeply with his commitment to practical, people-centered leadership.

Erik is already putting his certification to work, helping develop onboarding and fact-finding tools to make it easy for site managers to explore Parksmart opportunities with their clients. In the future, he will serve as an internal subject matter expert, guiding clients through certification pathways and identifying measures that improve building performance and sustainability outcomes.

As a Parksmart Advisor, I can help our clients evaluate their facilities, prioritize improvements, and pursue certification. It is a great way to show that The Car Park does not just provide parking solutions — we help clients lead in environmentally responsible, forward-thinking facility management.

This program reflects our commitment to the forward-thinking, principled service we provide to our clients.

His commitment to growth and service has always defined Erik’s leadership journey. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran who attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5) before moving into civilian leadership roles in recreation, hospitality, and small business. His philosophy — You can only coach to the depth of your relationship” — continues to guide him in building strong teams and client partnerships today.

Erik’s Parksmart certification highlights his dedication to leadership and innovation. It also expands our ability to help clients achieve measurable sustainability outcomes while ensuring a better experience for the people who rely on our facilities every day.

By investing in his own professional development, Erik is helping The Car Park continue to lead with innovation and integrity. His achievement exemplifies our shared commitment to continuous improvement, sustainability, and people-first leadership.

Earlier this year, Erik was also appointed to the Allyship and Equity Volunteer Committee with IPMI, a selective group dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the parking, mobility, and transportation industries.

Congratulations, Erik — and thank you for raising the bar for what leadership and innovation look like at The Car Park.
